Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry & Monitor

Description:
Confined space work involves critical hazards, especially in the oil and gas industry. This course teaches participants how to recognize, assess, and control hazards found in restricted and confined spaces. It is developed in alignment with CSA Z1006-16 and the CAPP Code of Practice for Confined Space.

In addition, the training supports safe planning, monitoring, and entry procedures. It is intended for workers, supervisors, and those responsible for coordinating or monitoring confined space entry.

Upon successful completion of the proctored exam with a minimum score of 70 percent, participants receive a Certificate of Completion valid for three years.

Course Outline Includes:

  • Roles and responsibilities of workers, supervisors, and monitors
  • Review of OH&S legislative standards
  • Code of Practice and how to develop one
  • Identifying restricted and confined spaces
  • Requirements for safe work in or near confined spaces
  • Hazard assessment and selection of control measures
  • Planning and permitting for confined space entry
  • Atmospheric testing procedures
  • Use of signage and tagging systems
  • Emergency response planning and readiness

Notes:

  • Participants must attend all instructional time to be eligible for certification.
  • Anyone missing course content cannot be certified.
  • The course may extend past 4:30 pm depending on class needs.
