H2S Alive Training Class
Description:
The H2S Alive Training Class teaches workers how to work safely in environments where hydrogen sulphide (H2S) may be present.
H2S is a naturally occurring gas found in many industrial settings. It is colorless, heavier than air, and extremely toxic. Additionally, it may smell like rotten eggs at low levels, but it can quickly deaden the sense of smell. It's important to note that even short exposure to high concentrations can be fatal. Therefore, learning how to recognize and control H2S hazards is essential.
This training provides both theory and hands-on practice. Participants learn how to identify H2S, use detection equipment, select respiratory protection, and respond safely in an emergency.
Upon Completion:
A minimum score of 70 percent on the exam is required. Successful participants receive a Certificate of Completion valid for three years.
Topics Covered:
- Properties and characteristics of H2S
- Health hazards and common locations where H2S may be found
- Hazard assessment and control methods
- Selection and use of respiratory protective equipment
- Detection devices and monitoring techniques

Notes:
- Participants must be able to don a mask and breathe under air.
- They must also participate in rescue drag practice.
