Psychological First Aid (PFA)
Description:
This course helps learners understand how stress, loss, trauma, and grief affect individuals. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of self-care and personal protection when offering support. Participants are also introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model, which promotes emotional and psychological resilience. Furthermore, the course uses case-based learning and incorporates the latest international research to strengthen practical skills.
Duration:
- In-class: 12 hours
- Blended: 45–90 minutes online + 7 hours in-class
Pre-Requisite:
Completion of the PFA – Self-Care online course is required for the blended option.
Recommended age: 16.
Audience:
This course is suitable for youth, workplaces, and professional responders, and can be adapted to different group needs.
Instructor:
Taught by a certified Psychological First Aid Instructor.
Prerequisites:
- Age 16+ (recommended)
- Psychological First Aid – Self-Care online course (required for blended format)
Completion Requirements:
- Participation in 100% of the in-class portion
- Completion of the PFA – Self-Care online course (for blended delivery)
Certification:
Learners receive a 3-year Psychological First Aid certification upon successful completion.
